Pension of ex-MLAs raised to Rs 8000

Mumbai, Jul 31 (UNI) Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today passed a bill to increase the amount of pension of ex-MLAs from Rs 6000 to Rs 8000.

CPM member Narsayya Adam opposed the bill, which was also criticised by majority of members including BJP's Raj Purohit. Many of them obstructed Mr Adam's speech that the bill be sent to the joint select committee for their opinion in six months.

Mr Purohit said ex-MLAs, especially in their old age, were left to fend for themselves as they required medical attention as well.
