Over 1.85 lakh birds culled in Manipur till July 30
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) In all 1,85,231 birds have been killed in the operations in Manipur, as the continuing culling and disposal will cover all 86 sectors in the zero-five km zone, followed by mopping, clean up and disinfection.
Control and containment operations were continuing in and around the infected site in Manipur today also. 47,294 birds -- 43,176 chicken and 4,118 ducks -- were culled and disposed off yesterday, totalling to 1,85,231 birds till then.
Other infected materials such as eggs (1,755) and feed/feed materials (2,105 kg) were also disposed off, an official release said here today.
There is no report of any unusual mortality from East and West Imphal districts of Manipur or the country as a whole, the release said.
Supplies of disinfectant and other materials required for control and containment have been rushed by Government to accelerate the pace of control and containment.
The Government has issued an advisory to the North East States to restrain from imposing any restriction on the Inter-State movement of poultry and poultry products and intensify surveillance, especially vigilance on the border with the countries that have reported outbreak of avian influenza, the release added.
