One sentenced to life for murder
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) A local court today handed life imprisonment to a man found guilty of murder.
The accused, Mahavir Singh, confessed before the court during trial that he killed one Bedu Pahalwan on August 20, 2003 by shooting him dead.
Three other co-accused -- Surender Singh, Kartar Singh, and Azad Singh -- were acquitted by the court for want of evidence.
It was alleged that Singh and the deceased were involved in a case before the incident.
The prosecution pleaded to the court to punish the accused with capital punishment because the murder was committed after a well thought-out planning.
Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar after hearing the argument of both the sides pronounced life imprisonment to Singh.
