Observe strict rules before granting permission: Corporators
Mumbai, July 31 (UNI) Corporators of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), across the board, today demanded that strict rules and regulations be observed by the administration before granting permission to new buildings.
The collapse of Laxmi Chhaya building in Borivali this month has made the civic administration look up to the loopholes in the construction of new buildings.
Leader of the House Sunil Prabhu said ''We have demanded strict guidelines to be followed by the administration before granting permission to new constructions, and once the building is 15 years old, stock report should be carried out by the BMC authorities every 5 years.'' Leader of the Opposition in the BMC Raj Hans Singh said ''The welfare of the people of city should be taken care of by the civic administration. Hence, the new guidelines regarding new constructions should be followed and action taken wherever necessary.'' Mr Prabhu added that the Pathak Commission should be implemented, that was commissioned after the collapse of Govind Towers in Bandra East.
