MPs should stand united for the state: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, July 31 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today urged the Members of Parliament from the state to fight against the Centre's ''neglect'' and stand united for the fulfilment of the state's demands.
Addressing a meeting of State MPs here, he asked them to coordinate with the Union Ministers from the state to get maximum benefits.
Criticising the Centre for its ''neglect'' in providing monsoon relief, Mr Achuthanandan said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had not taken a favourable stand even after an all-party delegation met him in this regard.
Regarding the bifurcation of Palakkad Railway Division, he said the Minister of State for Railways R Velu was for the Salem division, against the promises made by Dr Singh and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad.
He asked the MPs to fight against this in Parliament.
Noting that the Kerala Farmers Debt Relief Fund had limitations, he called upon the MPs to demand that the Centre should bring out a Central Farmers Debt Relief Fund for debt-ridden farmers.
