Minister assures availability of essential items to poor

Imphal, July 31 (UNI) Concerned about the high rate of kerosene and non-availability of rice in the state, Food and Civil Supplies Minister(FCS) Y Erabot has assured these essential items would be made available to the poor.

The Minister has been touring the state to oversee the food distribution system, FCS officials said.

Two godowns of 12,500 metric tonne capacity will be constructed at Churachandpur and Tamenglong at the cost of Rs one crore which will have modern amenities, officials said.

The Minister has instructed Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to take appropriate actions to make rice and kerosene available.

The FCS department has also decided to distribute kerosene at the oil depots.
