Martyr Abdul Hameed's widow seeks job in army for grandson
Rae Bareli, July 31 (UNI) Rasoolan Bibi, the widow of martyr and Param Veer Chakra awardee Abdul Hameed, seeks a job for her grandson in the army.
Rasoolan has made a fervent appeal for a job in Army for her grandson Jameel, who is in the college and is pursuing science and wants to serve the country like his grandfather.
She came to an army camp run by Colonel Rajkumar and told her tale of woes.
Besides, the petrol pump, that the state government allotted to her, had already closed down and she is clamouring for funds to repay debts, amouting to Rs 12 lakh.
Rasoolan gets a pension of Rs 3,000 and has four sons, but three of them do not live with their mother. She is living with her youngest son Junaid Alam.
Abdul Hameed attained martyrdom in the 1965 India-Pakistan war and was posthumously awarded Param Veera Chakra.
He had joined the Indian Army in 1954 and was promoted to the rank of Lance Nayak for his bravery in the 1962 Indo-China war.
''Things have changed a lot...it is becoming hard to survive under the acute financial crises. We are left with nothing,'' Rasoolan noted.
