Legendary Urdu writer Qurratulain Haider critically ill

New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) Eminent Urdu writer Qurratulain Haider is critically ill and has been admitted to Kailash Hospital here.

The Jnanpith and Padmashri awardee, whose works are internationally acclaimed, was shifted to ICU last night, family sources told UNI.

Ms Haider, who has become a legendary figure in literature, was hospitalised ten days back. She is suffering from a lung ailment.

Around eighty-year-old Ms Haider has not been keeping good healh for quite sometime.

Her most known novel is the epic 'Aaag Ka Darya'. She won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1967, and was given the Jnanpith Award for her novel 'Akhir-e-Shab ke Hamsafar'(Late night co-travellers) in 1989.
