K'taka Govt to bring in new law to control cyber crime
Bangalore, July 31 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today told the State Assembly that the State Government is planning to bring in a new law to control cyber crime in the State.
Replying to a query raised by Mr V Somanna of the Congress, he said the Government had noticed a spurt in cyber crimes and had planned to introduce a new law to control it, besides giving importance to training more personnel.
Mr Prakash said the police had registered 40 cases of cyber crime related offences from January 2006 till date. While 29 cases related to hacking, six pertained to publishing obscene information in electonic form and five related to tampering with computer source document, he added.
The Government had set up a police unit at the COD office in the city to investigate cyber crime.
