Kanchi seer celebrates birthday
Kancheepuram, July 31 (UNI) Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi today celebrated his 73rd birthday by visiting the 'brindavan' of Sri Senior Seer Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal and performing an 'aarthi.' Later, he presented 'vastrams' to a couple at the Kanchi Mutt.
Kanchi Junior Seer Vijayendra Saraswathi took the blessings of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi.
Madurai Aadheenam Gnanasamandha Desika Paramacharya Swamigal conveyed his greetings personally to Sri Jayendrar and presented 'prasad' from famous temples in Tamil Nadu.
Later, speaking to the press, the Aadheenam said 'sanipeyarchi,' marking the transit of Saturn from 'Kataka Rasi' (Cancer) to Simha Rasi (Leo), will not have any impact on the current political scenario in Tamil Nadu.
Making a case for holding moral classes in schools for at least two hours a week, the Aadheenam said it will help produce a society without violence.
He also advocated ban on use of mobile phones by students and commuting to school only by bus. He said parents should not buy two wheelers for their wards.
