Joint air display by IAF fighters
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) Frontline fighter planes of the Indian Air Force will take part in a joint air display with the aircraft from the Air India's fleet at Mumbai on September 9, giving the residents of the metroplis a thrilling visual treat on Ganesh Chaturthi.
The fly past takes place as both Indian Air Force and Air India celebrate their Platinum Jubilee this year, an IAF statement said here today.
Fighters like the multi-role air superiority SU-30s and MiG-29s, deep penetration strike Jaguars and the venerable MiG-21 'Bisons' would be flying in close formation with representative aircraft from Air India's entire fleet. The fly past, between Chowpatty and Nariman Point, would be followed by an aerobatic display by IAF's Surya Kiran aerobatic team ('SKATS').
A solo aerobatic display by IAF SU-30 Air superiority fighter would also be held on the occasion.
The essence of the entire effort, apart from the ceremonial public display was that, the flypast was likely to take place without any prior practices or rehearsals and has been planned in such manner that it would cause least disruption to the civilian air traffic.
On July 28, when the Air India's Boeing 777 arrived at New Delhi for the first time from Seattle, US, they were ceremoniously escorted by IAF's SU-30s to the IGI Airport.
