HC issues contempt notice to Kalighat Temple Committee
Kolkata, Jul 31 (UNI) Calcutta High Court today pulled up the committee, managing the funds of the famed Kalighat Temple, for irregularities and issued a contempt notice against it.
Official sources here today said Justice Girish Gupta issued the contempt notice on the petition of a local resident, Ashok Haldar, who alleged that the Temple Committee was not complying with the apex court guidelines for running the temple.
Mr Haldar accused the committee of ''misappropriating temple funds and creating an atmosphere which was not conducive for worship.'' The court directed the Temple Committee to reply to the contempt notice within six weeks after which the petition would be heard again, official sources added.
