Good demands in Kolkata tea auction

Kolkata, Jul 31 (UNI) There were overall good demands of tea in the Kolkata tea auction that held for three days from July 24, a Kolkata Tea Market Report said today.

CTC had good demands on selected Assams followed by Dooars with similar trend with active support from Tata Tea and Western India operated on liquoring lines and sold 72,326 packages containing about 23,24,415 kilograms.

Similarly, 7,761 packages, containing about 1,80,433 kgs Darjeeling tea, were auctioned in which traditional exporters operated along with some local interest. Major Blender did selective buying and UK Continent provided good support.

About 33,386 packages, containing 7,90,087 kgs Orthodox tea, were auctioned in which the cleaner and blacker whole leaf variety was steady draws and fannings variety was sold at firm rates. It received fair inquiry from Middle East and CIS shippers and Major Blender, local buyers and North India dealers operated in this auction.

Lastly, 25,265 packages, containing about 9,34,598 kgs Dust tea, were auctioned in which selected liquoring secondaries were appreciated. Major Blender and Tata Tea were active along with Western India buyers operating on liquoring sorts.
