Farmers to protest for compensation over Taj Expressway acquisition

Agra, July 31 (UNI) Farmers are planning a massive agitation, if they are not paid appropriate compensation for the land acquisition in Taj Expressway and Agra-Jaipur national highway.

The farmers are furious over the land acquisition, suitable for cultivation of potato, and the payment of compensation at the present circle rate.

About 15.75 lakh hectares of land is to be acquired between Noida and Kuberpur.

The non-disclosure of compensation rate by the government has further, put the farmers in tizzy, sources said.

Meanwhile, the farmers had alleged they would protest, if they were not given compensation at the market rate, as decided earlier by the state government.

A farmers meet has been called tomorrow to decide the future strategy for welfare of farmers.
