Derailment: Rail services hit at Chennai Central

Chennai, July 31 (UNI) Train services at the Central railway station here continued to be affected as two vacant bogies of Jaipur Express derailed near the sixth platform this evening, hours after three empty rakes of Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express got derailed yesterday night.

According to Southern Railway sources, today's derailment occurred at the same place where the Tamil Nadu Express got derailed severely affecting the train services at the station.

The bogies of the Express were brought to the platform from the yard with a delay of an hour after the derailment took place.

No trains left the station since 1800 hrs. Trains like Chennai Central-Kakkinada Circar Express, Chennai Central-Coimbatore Cheran Express, which were rescheduled after yesterday's derailment, would suffer further delay.

Restoration works were progressing and it was expected to rerail the coaches by late tonight.
