Cong leader's murder: Demand for discussion in MP Assy
Bhopal, July 31 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh's main opposition Congress today demanded a discussion in the Assembly on a party leader's murder in Damoh district.
Raising the matter as soon as question hour concluded, Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi alleged, ''Mr Narendra Shrivastav was gunned down on July 29 in Batiyagarh area and a certain political party's workers had a hand.'' Ms Devi even named the party but the name was expunged by Speaker Ishwardas Rohani.
Pointing out that Mr Shrivastav lodged corruption-linked complaints against certain persons when Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Batiyagarh area on July 28 under a jandarshan programme, she added that the complaints angered people who targeted Mr Shrivastav the following day.
Countering Ms Devi, Cooperatives Minister Gopal Bhargava said that he had accompanied Mr Chouhan and Mr Shrivastav made no complaint of that nature. Ultimately, the Speaker said that he would seek a reply from the government on this issue.
Meanwhile, Mr Arif Aqueel (Cong) drew the attention of the House to spiralling crime in the state capital and said that an advocate was fired at while journeying in his car yesterday but escaped unhurt.
