Call to strengthen Lok Satta
Tirupati, July 31 (UNI) National Convenor of the Lok Satta (LS) N Jayaprakash Narayana today called upon its party leaders to take up a mass membership drive from Mandal-level.
Addressing the party delegates at Rayalaseema zone he urged them to kick start an ''anti-belt-liquor shop'' campaign, which would change the political scenario in the state.
The party activists should carry the ''strong'' party agendas to benefit the people. However, most of the political parties' agendas were framed for ''power-sacking'' and ''defeating the rivals'', not for the people, he said.
In the next 4-5 months, 15 lakh members should be enrolled, as the strength was required to change the present political scenario besides establishing 'Mahila Yuva Satta' and 'Yuva satta' for the campaign to identify unauthorised liquor shops in villages and towns across the state, he said.
Organisational elections would be conducted at mandal, district and state level in a phased manner before February.
An Act should be introduced to facilitate women and Panchayats to control liquor shops.
Free medical treatment would be provided to those addicted to alcohol. He pointed out that 50 lakh families in the state were on the verge of ruin due to addiction to liquor and 120 youths died due to this at Mannapalli in Warangal last year.
The liquor agitation would be intensified from October two by closing unlicensed shops and produce before the law.
