C M stressed planned development of villages

Shimla, Jul 31 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today emphasized the need for planned development of the villages as they were the future towns.

Addressing the closing ceremony of local sports tournament at Chirgaon in Rohru sub-division of Shimla district, he said the villagers have to be educated about the need to construct their houses in a planned manner so that it adds to the hilly beauty of the place.

Mr Singh said that majority of the people residing in the villages were constructing their houses in an unplanned manner which was against the hilly architecture.

All construction should be as per the town and country planning provisions with emphases on civic amenities, parking and open spaces, he said.

He said his government had opened higher education centres, health and other quality services at the village level to provide them basic facilities close to their houses.

Referring to rural sports popularity in the state, he said a number of national and inter-state sports events were being organised in the rural areas to encourage the young to exhibit their sporting talent and bring laurels to the state and the counry.
