BSNL GMs daughter's 'mysterious' death leads to protests

Ambala, July 31 (UNI) The police today recovered the dead body of a married girl from the railway tracks near the Ambala City police station.

The body was later identified as that of Priti, daughter of General Manager of BSNL J B Gupta.

As news of the death spread, Mr Gupta and his wife with hundreds of their sympathisers, blocked the Chandigarh-Hisar National Highway demanding arrest of Priti's husband Neeraj Bansal and his family members as they were responsible for either killing her or compelling her to commit suicide today.

They alleged that the dead body might have been thrown before a running train after murdering her. Her dead body was taken to the civil hospital by the GRP for post-mortem.

Mr Gupta alleged that the GRP was not registering the case against the Bansal family, hence they were compelled to block the roads. Thereafter, the GRP registered a case against Neeraj Bansal, an assistant treasury officer posted at Pheowa and his parents.

However, no arrest had been made so far.

Mr Gupta alleged that his daughter Priti was a brilliant student and had topped in the university. She was selected as lecturer by the HSSSC recently and was to join duty.

He also alleged that ever since her marriage, she was continuously harassed for dowry and was maltreated when she delivered a female child 10 months back. She had been complaining that she might be murdered by her in-laws.

The police have begun investigations into the case.
