Azad to head Committee on Dal Lake conservation

Srinagar, July 31 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has set up a Cabinet Sub-Committee, headed by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, to monitor the conservation of Dal and Nigeen lakes.

The Committee would oversee the execution of the projects being implemented by the Lakes And Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) for conservation of Dal and Nigeen lakes, official sources said.

The other members of the Committee are Forest, Environment and Ecology Minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Finance, Planning, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Hameed Qarra, Public Health Engineering and Tourism Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Roads and Buildings Minister Gulchain Singh Charak, they added.

The sources said the Housing and Urban Development Department would service the Committee.

Chief Secretary C Phunsog would also attend the meetings to assist the Committee in its deliberations, they added.
