Aug 8 to be holiday in MC poll bound areas

Chandigarh, July 31 (UNI) Punjab Labour and Employment Department has declared August 8 as 'closed day' for all shops and commercial establishments situated in the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporations Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala in lieu of Municipal Corporation Elections in the state.

A spokesman of the Labour and Employment Department said the close day had been declared to enable the employees working in the shops and commercial establishments to exercise their right to franchise.

Similarly, the employees of all the factories situated within MC area will get paid holiday on August 8.
