Guwahati, July 31 (UNI) The Assam government today announced handing over the post mortem reports, copies of the FIR and other documents sought by the family of Food Corporation of India (FCI) executive director P C Ram, killed in a crossfire in ULFA captivity.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said here that the government would complete the necessary formalities on its part to hand over copies of these documents asked for by Ram's wife and son.

'' We will not wait for them to apply as it is the general procedure,'' he added.

Mr Gogoi also informed that the Chief Secretary has been directed to proceed with the necessary formalities for the CBI enquiry into Ram's killing.

Ram was killed in crossfire between the abductor ULFA militants and police on the night of July 11 at Changsari, near Guwahati, after being taken hostage by the ULFA on April 17.

The dead FCI official's son had alleged that the state government had conspired to kill his father, prompting the chief minister to announce the CBI probe.

Mr Gogoi said the Union Home Secretary had expressed his view that the enquiry was not needed as the facts were in place and out in the open but the state government would be going for it. '' We have nothing to hide and want all doubts to be settled,'' he added.
