Arcellor Mittal Orissa plant construction to start in 2008 end: CEO
Kolkata, Jul 31 (UNI) L N Mittal owned Arcellor Mittal will start construction for the first phase of the proposed 12-million tonne steel plant in Orissa by the end of 2008 while the plant will be commissioned in 2012.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, Arcellor Mittal Chief Executive Officer Dr Sanak Mishra said the construction would start after the Detailed Project Report(DPR) is submitted in mid-2008. The company would also undertake the Environment Management Plan for getting environment clearances.
''The proposed steel plant will produce both long and flat products. However, the ratio of long and flat products will be fixed in tune with the market demands,'' Dr Mishra said.
When asked about the land acquisition process, he said,''There might be some small problems but no major roadblocks are expected.'' The steel produced from this plant would be sold in the domestic market, he added.
Meanwhile, speaking about the company's proposed Jharkhand plant, Dr Mishra said the company is waiting for the framing of the rehabilitaion package after which it will go ahead with the DPR.
