Action against school for deviation during medical exam: Renuka
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) The government would take action against Sardar Patel Vidyalaya for the embarrassing medical examination of its students without taking their parents' consent.
''The school must take responsibility of any violation of the law under which it was required to take the parents consent before any kind of examination of minor students,'' Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury told reporters.
Asserting that the report of the two-member committee constituted by the National Commission for Protection of Children's rights chairperson Shanta Sinha has not yet reached the ministry, Ms Chowdhury said once the report was received suitable action would be taken.
Under the existing laws, any action on minor children, be it their medical examination, must be done only after taking consent of their parents, the minister pointed out and said any deviation, if proved, would be acted upon.
The Commission had constituted the committee of noted advocate Ashok Aggarwal and NCPCR member Sandhya Bajaj to probe the incident in which students of the school were medically examined during which their genitals were reported in touched.
The Committee has reportedly criticised the private doctor, who had undertaken the medical examination of the children as part of the survey to find out cases of hernia and hydrosil among students and said the children must be compensated for the himiliation suffered.
