New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) The Supreme Court today issued notices to CBI on a petition filed by Zaibunnisha Anwar Quazi sentenced to five years imprisonment by TADA Court in 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case, seeking release on bail.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari issued notices, returnable within three weeks, after her bail application was mentioned for urgent hearing before the Court.

The 64-year-old convict in her petition has contended that she was not in a position to challange her conviction and sentence because the copy of the detailed order has not been made available to her by TADA Court. She was on bail till June this year and was taken into custody after the sentence was pronounced on her on June 15 this year.

The petitioner has also prayed to the Court to extend her bail till further order.

Over two hundred people were killed when bomb blasts rocked the commercial capital of India in reprisal for the demolition of the Babri Masjid, and 11 persons have been sentenced to death.
