Jammu: 1181 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Jammu, July 31: A batch of 1181 pilgrims today left for Pahalgam and Baltal base camps from where they will move towards the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir, official sources said here.

The convoy of 36 vehicles, including 31 buses and five light motor vehicles (LMV), left from the base camp of Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) stadium for Nunwan (Pahalgam) and Baltal yatra camps at 0505 hrs amid tight security, they added.

The convoy consists of 755 men, 283 women, 39 children and 104 sadhus.

With today's batch, the 30th this year, a total of 47,394 pilgrims have left for the holy shrine from the Jammu base camp since July 2, sources said.
