TTOT moved authority for tourism tie-up with Bangladesh

Agartala, July 30 (UNI) Tour and Travel operators of Tripura(TTOT) have initiated a move to promote bilateral regional tourism and cultural exchanges with Bangladesh.

Talking to UNI here today, TTOT President Ajit Paul said that Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh(TOAB) delegation, currently on a visit to all the northeastern states, had expressed interest.

''In response to our interest, a 12-member TOAB had come here and met the government officials and entrepreneurs in the region to develop tourism opportunities with the Northeast encompassing Tripura,'' said Mr Paul.

''We want cross border tourism to further strengthen our traditional bonds with Bangladesh,'' said Tripura Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister Anil Sarkar adding that the primary discussion on modalities to boost tourism between the Northeast and Bangladesh has already been done.

TOAB has organised a three-day international tourism festival in Dhaka from September 6 as part of their efforts to develop tourism among the South Asian countries. On this occasion, the NE states has also been invited to showcase their tourism and cultural potential.

TOAB officials disclosed that they have an agreement with the European countries to undertake package tours and now they are interested in enticing the European tourists to the northeast.
