TOAB to ask Dhaka to set up visa office in Shillong
Shillong, Jul 30: The Tour Operators of Bangladesh (TOAB) have decided to ask Dhaka administration to set up a visa office in Shillong to improve bilateral trade and tourism.
''We will speak to the authorities in Dhaka to set up a visa office in Shillong and start a bus service from Dhaka to Shillong,'' TOAB president Hasan Mansur told UNI here today.
Mr Mansur, who was here leading a 12-member delegation, to the state also interacted with Tourism Minister Charles Pyngrope and Chief Secretary Ranjan Chatterjee on promotion of tourism potentials in Meghalaya and Bangladesh.
The delegation had also visited Tripura and Asom to explore the tourism potential of the region.
''We will incorporate Meghalaya and other North Eastern states in our tourism map, which will facilitate a low cost international trip for their tourists,'' Mr Mansur said.
He said the visit is aimed at enhancing cooperation with the region to boost tourism potential and TOAB had been contemplating to introduce conduct tour involving NE states.
''We are going to organise a tourism festival at Dhaka in first week of September and have already invited Tripura to showcase its tourism potential, which will help us to attract tourists to the region,'' Mr Mansur added.
