'Supplementary chargesheet' may be filed in Sohrabuddin case
New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) Deputy Superintendent of Police, CID, Gujarat Police, Narendra Kr Amin shall be suspended for his alleged involvement in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, the state police informed the Supreme Court today.
A bench comprising Justices Tarun Chatterjee and PK Balasubramaniyam was also informed by senior counsel KTS Tulsi that Gujarat Police may also file supplementary chargesheet in the case against other accused including Amin who was reportedly present when the body of Kauserbi wife of Sohrabuddin Sheikh was cremated on November 28, 2005.
Additional Solicitor General, Gopal Subramaniyam who is appearing as 'amicus curiae' pointed out the shortcomings in the investigations conducted by the state police.
The chargesheet was totally silent on what happened to Kauserbi between November 25, 2005, the date she was picked up from the bus along with her husband Sohrabuddin Sheikh and an associate Tulsiram Prajapati and till her body was disposed off after three days, pointed out Mr Subramaniyam.
He further said that the chargesheet has not said anything about the dubious role played by other Gujarat Police officers in the case.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till Auguist 6, 2007.
Gujarat Police also sought permission of the apex court for filing special leave petition, SLP against the Sessions Judge order granting anticipatory bail to NK Amin, DSP, CID.
The court also adjourned till August 6 hearing of another petition filed by eminent writer Jawed Akhtar also seeking a CBI inquiry into the alleged killing of Sameer Khan Pathan by Gujarat Police in a fake encounter after branding him Lashkar-e-Taiba militant.
Sohrabudin was also branded as a LeT militant involved in a conspiracy to eliminate State CM Narendra Modi.
