Sultry weather conditions prevail in plains
Chandigarh, July 30 (UNI) Sultry weather conditions prevailed in the plains as monsoon rain eluded most places in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh since last night.
Except for Madopur and Gurdaspur in Punjab, Indiri, Kurukshetra and Nuh in Haryana and Sujanpur Tira and Sundernagar in Himachal Pradesh, there was no rainfall in the region draped in monsoon clouds.
Madopur and Gurdaspur recorded 10 mm each, while Indiri measured 40 mm, Kurukshetra 20 mm, Nuh 10 mm, Sujanpur Tira 5.9 mm and Sundernagr 0.1 mm rainfall overnight. Ambala and Chandigarh reported trace rainfall.
Major towns, including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Hissar, Karnal, Rohtak, Una and Shimla had no rains, leading to hot and humid weather conditions in the region.
The Weather Office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at few places in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh over the next 24 hours.
