State neglects Telangana: BJP
Vijayawada, July 30 (UNI) BJP National Executive Member and Jai Andhra Udyama Samithi Chairman K Haribabu today alleged that the Congress-led government in Andhra Pradesh was totally neglecting the development of Coastal region and was giving undue importance to the Telangana region.
Talkingto newspersons here, he said though the state government was according priority to Telangana, it was also keen to develop Hyderabad city in terms of irrigation and education.
Even as 80 per cent of the total revenue of the state was from the coastal districts, the government was neglecting the latter, he said.
Mr Haribabu alleged that Rs 10,000 crore had been sanctioned for the development of the state in the budget, out of which Rs 6,000 crore was earmarked for Telangana.
However, only Rs 2,000 crore was allotted to Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, he said.
Criticising the state government for its 'step motherly' attitude on Coastal and Rayalaseema regions, Mr Haribabu said if separate Andhra state was formed, the Coastal districts would be developed through utilising the natural resources in Krishna-Godavari basin, and running of four gas based power plants which were kept idle.
