State govt is to be blamed for malnutrition: Sunil Prabhu
Mumbai, July 30 (UNI) Leader of the House in the Brihanumbai Municipal Corporation, Sunil Prabhu blamed the State government for the deaths that were caused due to malnutrition in Aarey Colony, Powai and asked the Mayor to write to Maharashtra Chief Minister to take steps to tackle the problem.
Speaking in the BMC House today, Prabhu said that the Public Distribution System (PDS) of food-grains has failed in the area. He blamed the concerned rationing officials and said that the ration card holders have not been given food grains for the last 6 months, because of which the situation has worsened.
He further added that the State's Health and the Children Welfare Ministry has acted only after the deaths took place in the area.
''The Social Development Officer is also to be blamed, as he did not scrutinise the nourishment level in the food that was distributed in the aanganwadis or the paadas in the area.'' UNI
