Start ESI hospital immediately, demand workers unions

Kolhapur, July 30 (UNI) A large number of workers affiliated to various workers unions, today marched to the district collectorate and submitted a memorandum to the Resident District Collector demanding that the Employees State Insurance Scheme (ESIS) hospital be started immediately for the workers here.

The workers affiliated to various organisations like Mechanical and Engineering Workers Union, Kolhapur; Maharashtra State All Shramik Sanghatanaas Menon and Memon Workers Sangatana among others submitted a memorandum highlighting several demands including the immediate start of the ESIS hospital.

The morcha was led by workers union leaders Atul Dighe, R S Patil and others. The leaders said all industrial workers should get benefits of ESIS too.

Later, addressing workers, Mr Dighe said that ESIS hospital building had been lying idle without any facilities here and threatened to intensify workers agitation to pressurise the State government to start the ESIS hospital immediately.
