SP leader flees as cops arrest two aides in land grabbing case
Lucknow, July 30 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh police has arrested two people and was in search of ex Samajwadi Party city president Fakir Siddique in connection with grabbing a Dalit land in the state capital.
Superintendent of Police (Trans-Gomti) Umesh Singh said here that Fakir was absconding after police team went for his arrest.
The two other arrested were Naval Kumar Gupta, a business partner of Fakir and Javeed Siddique, nephew of the SP leader.
Police said the SP leader had grabbed, through illegal means, the land of a Dalit near Munshipulia in Indira Nagar locality.
Fakir had contested the last Assembly Elections on SP ticket from Lucknow East constituency and was defeated only by a slender margin of about 400 votes. He had also unsuccessfully contested the assembly polls of 2002 from Lucknow on SP ticket.
