Six EC teams visit Gujarat to check electoral rolls

Gandhinagar, Jul 30 (UNI) In the run up to the forthcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat, six teams of the Election Commission will begin a week long inspection of the electoral rolls and review the state's preparedness for the polls.

The Gujarat Election Commission (GEC) office sources told UNI here today that these six ECI teams, led by Deputy Election Commissiner J P Prakash, will arrive here tonight.

These teams, consisting of senior officials of the ECI, will be in state till August 6 and will address all complaints of electorates and, if necessary, direct the State Election Commission to rectify all anomolies in the electrol rolls.

During their week long tour, these teams will visit every district to check the preparedness of the state commission and collect first-hand informaton on other aspects concerning the Assembly Election before announcing its dates.
