New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) The National Conference of Dalit Organisations today held a 'Nagara' rally at Jantar Mantar, demanding the Centre and the state governments to take quick action to solve problems of the people involved in scavenging and other unclean occupations.

Hundreds of leaders belonging to the NACDOR, a national platform of grassroots Dalit organisations warned the Centre and the state governments that they would launch a nationwide agitation if their demands were not fulfilled.

Addressing the rally, president of the National Balmiki Veer Dal, Balkishen Mahar said,''we work in conditions worse than hell. But governments and the people who enjoy their life because of our hard work deliberately ignore us. This is the limit of insensitivity that any government of civil society can have.'' Later, in a conference, it was resolved to organise at Parliament on December 5 an All India Conference and peoples' Dignity rally of people involved in the unclean occupations such as scavenging, sanitation, sewer cleaning and tanning.
