Saral form can be used to file IT return: HC
Lucknow, July 30 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today ordered that the saral form could be used to file Income Tax (IT) returns.
A Lucknow division bench comprising Justices U K Dhawan and S N Shukla passed this ordered on a petition filed by Om Prakash Tiwari through his counsel Jaideep Narain Mathur.
The petitioner had challenged the replacement of Saral form by new ITR-1 to ITR-8 form series depending upon the category of the assessee.
Meanwhile, the court has given four weeks to the opposite parties to file counter affidavit and two weeks to the petitioner to file rejoinder thereon.
The petition had made Union of India; Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Lucknow; Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman; and union ministry of finance, New Delhi as opposite parties.
Representing the central government, Rituraj Awasthi sought four weeks time to file a-rejoinder, which was allowed by the court.
