Ruling party member stages walk out in the Legislative Council
Bangalore, July 30 (UNI) A member of the BJP, the ruling coalition government 's partner today staged a walkout in the Karnataka Legislative Council. He was not satisfied with the reply by the Minister for his question during Zero hour.
The member Mr Mukyamantri Chandru (BJP) had sought a reply from the government as to why the post of Director in the prestigious Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology was lying vacant since last two years and was not filled.
He alleged that the present incumbent to the post was holding it on ad hoc basis since last two years despite facing several charges of corruption and misuse of power.
Minister for Medical Education Dr V S Acharya, in his reply gave an assurance to fill up the post soon and informed the House that the Director incharge had sought voluntary retirement from October this year.
The Minister, agreed that the in-charge Director had gone on leave without permission but repaid the salary she had drawn during her absence.
However, not satisfied with the reply, Mr Mukhyamantri Chandru staged a walkout alleging that the government was trying to protect corrupt officials.
