Rs 2 crores brown sugar recovered, 2 smuggler arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today recovered brown sugar worth Rs two crore and arrested two smugglers in the Kashmir valley today.
Harmeet Singh, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sumbal, in Ganderbal district said a tip-off was received that some smugglers were selling brown sugar in the area to local youths.
He said subsequently the information was further investigated and two people named Mehraj-ud-din Darzi and Ghulam Mohammad Kawa were arrested.
Later, two kg of brown sugar, to the value of Rs two crore at international market, were recovered from their possession.
A case has been registered and a massive operation has been launched to nab their other associates, he added.
