Police rescue child from abductors

Gurdaspur, July 30 (UNI) The Punjab Police rescued a 10-year old child from the clutches of his kidnappers here last last.

SSP Lok Nath Angra told mediapersons today that the child, Ajay who was kidnapped by two beggars from outside a school on Saturday was found at the local railway station by a police party. The alleged kidnappers, Darshan Lal and Manu, both residents of Kaputhala were taken into custody and arrested under sections 365, 363 and 34 of the IPC.

The SSP said that the two abductors had planned to 'use' Ajay for begging purposes.

In another incident, the police managed to trace the whereabouts of another 10-year old child, who had been missing from home since Saturday evening. A local police team found Birju at Amritsar railway station alongwith his uncle, Raju who had planned to take him back to Bihar.

The police have recorded the statement of Birju's parents and are investigating the matter. Raju has been detained for questioning.
