Over 1.3 lakh birds culled in Manipur
New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) A total of 1,37,944 birds have been culled in Manipur so far since the outbreak of avian influenza in the state.
According to an official release issued here today, this comprises 58,615 chicken and ducks culled on July 29 and 79, 329 birds killed from July 25 to 28.
Besides, 8,140 eggs were destroyed on July 29 only and in all 20,249 eggs have been destroyed.
11,615 Kgs of poultry feed has been destroyed which includes 5,773 Kg destroyed on July 29.
Cleaning and disinfection of the state government poultry farms at Manitripukhri and Porompat is in progress.
Surveillance within a radius of 5 to 10 Kms is in progress.
79 villages comprising 41 in East Imphal and 38 in West Imphal fall in this area.
Other than these areas, there are no reports of any such abnormal death in poultry animals from any other part of the state, the release added.
