One falls to death, another commits suicide, two injured in Kashmi
Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) Two people died while two others were reported injured in the Kashmir valley today, official sources said.
According to sources, 50-year-old Ghulam Mohiuddin fell down from a walnut tree and died on the spot at Manihal, Zainpora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
In another incident in the same district, a 28-year-old man consumed some chemical and ccommited suicide. He was shifted to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
According to official figures, 62 people had committed suicide in 2006, while the figure has shot up dramatically this year and stood at 70 for the first six months of the current year.
The trend among the civilians, particularly women, to take the extreme step continued despite Fatwa by muslim ulmas, including Mufti Azam of the Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Bashir Udddin against suicide.
One Manjeet Singh was injured when a speedy vehicle hit him at Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway. He was hospitalised.
Another person was injured due to electric shock at Ganderbal. He has been admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
