No order on bail application of Vikas Yadav : SC
New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) The Supreme Court today declined to pass any order on the bail application of Vikas Yadav, son of former Rajya Sabha member D P Yadav and the main accused in Nitish Katara murder case.
A bench, comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran, adjourned the hearing of the petition filed by Vikas Yadav against the Delhi High Court orders dismissing his bail application.
Senior Counsel K T S Tulsi, appearing for the petitioner, contended that earlier Vikas Yadav was denied bail as his sister, Bharati Yadav, was supposed to appear as the prosecution witness.
But now as she had appeared and deposed and all prosecution witnesses had been examined by the court, there was no justification to keep him in jail.
Additional Solicitor General Vikas Singh who appeared for the state, however, contended that the accused was trying to delay the trial by taking large number of adjournments and he could not be allowed to take advantage of it.
Nitish Katara was murdered by Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav as they did not approve of their sister's relationship with Nitish.
D P Yadav is also facing allegations of trying to poison crucial prosecution witness Ajay Katara and a case has already been registered against him.
The trial of the case was transferred from Ghaziabad to Delhi when Neelam Katara, Nitish's mother, failed to find any advocate to take up her case because of D P Yadav's clout in western UP and his associates.
