Naveen urges Prime Minister to ensure coal supply to Nalco
Bhubaneswar, Jul 30 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to direct the Mahandi Coalfield to ensure adequate supply of coal to NALCO.
In a letter, Mr Patnaik drew the attention of the Prime Minister to the problem created due to inadequate supply of coal to the Public Sector undertaking and requested him to intervene in the issue immediately.
Mr Patnaik expressed concern over the non-supply of adequate coal to a bluechip PSU like NALCO and said it would hamper the production of the company.
While NALCO needed 14,500 ton everyday, MCL was supplying only 9000 ton of coal.
Due to lack of coal, the company was forced to close two units of its captive power plants, the letter said.
