Mufti to address global leaders conference in US

Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will visit the United States from September 14 to 16 this year to address a Global Leaders Conference.

Former US Defence Secretary William S Cohen will host the Conference under the aegis of the Howard Gilman Foundation.

A select group of 40 leaders from government, politics, policy making, diplomacy, military, academia, media and business from India and the US was expected to participate in the three-day event at White Oak Florida to deliberate on the future of Indo-US relations.

The objective of the conference is to provide a platform to the global leaders to discuss their perspective on key current and emerging regional, global, security and cultural issues.

The other key participants at the Conference include former US President, Bill Clinton, Senator Hillary Clinton, Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher, Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns, former US Ambassador to India Frank Wisner, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Army Chief Gen J J Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, former Foreign Secretary Salman Haider, Ethen Allen Group CEO Farooq Kathwari, BJP leader Arun Jaitley, CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat, lawyer Fali Nariman, Wipro CEO Azim Premji, NDTV Chief Prannoy Roy, former Minister Arun Shourie, BJP leader Jaswant Singh and business tycoons Anil Ambani, Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata and Vijay Mallya.

Mr Sayeed had attended the United Nations General Assembly session at New York in September-October last year as the Head of the Indian delegation.
