MP Lokayukta finds 52 officers guilty

Bhopal, July 30 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta found 52 officers and 36 other employees guilty during investigation over a year.

In a written reply to a question by Dr Sunilam (SP) in the Assembly today, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, ''FIRs were registered against 26 officers and 24 other employees. No arrests were executed. Action is being taken against 1,132 officers and 666 other employees.'' Responding to a query by Mr Akhand Pratap Singh (BJP), the Chief Minister said 704 FIRs were registered between July 1, 2004 and June 30, 2007 in Sagar division vis-a-vis assault or insult of government employees. A case was registered under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act against four people for assaulting Tikamgarh's Executive Magistrate Kanhaiyyalal Jatav on June 19.

''Between December 2003 and June 30, 2007 police opened fire at 81 places across 31 districts -- to maintain law and order and in self-defence -- resulting in 13 fatalities,'' Mr Chouhan told Mr Sajjan Singh Verma.

In a reply to Mr Indrajit Kumar (Cong), he said that Rs 12,42,72,000 were expended in three years on repair of government aircrafts. During the period, Rs 6,23,69,000 were spent on use of these aircrafts by the Chief Minister and other ministers.

''A proposal for raising the superannuation age of Ayurvedic physicians is under consideration. The age has been raised from 60 to 62 for allopathic doctors,'' Mr Chouhan told Mr Sunil Nayak (BJP).

The Chief Minister told Dr Sunilam that over a year 10,614 accused were exonerated in 4,544 cases involving grave offences.

''Jabalpur-resident Vishwamitra Puraskar-recipient Manoj Gupta was stripped of the award, comprising a memento and Rs 50,000, after a case was registered for harassing female players,'' Mr Chouhan told Mr Girijashankar Sharma (BJP).

Mr Ramniwas Rawat (Cong) was informed that 1,088 females including 650 minors were gangraped between December 7, 2003 and February 20, 2007.
