Kar DCM hopes for smooth transfer of power on October 3

Bangalore, Jul 30 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today hoped that there will be a smooth transfer of power to his Bharatiya Janata Party from coalition partner Janata Dal(Secular).

He was replying to a discussion on demands pertaining to the Finance Portfolio held by him.

Mr Yediyurappa, who chose to reply at the end of his reply to the issue raised by the opposition members during the discussion, recalled the political situation that led to the formation of the government and said the agreement was based on mutual trust and confidence. He was happy that there had been coordination in running the administration till now without any hindrance.

He termed the rumours with regard to transfer of power as 'figment of imagination' and said he was 100 per cent confident about the smooth transfer. He also assured Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, sitting next to him, the same kind of cooperation after the transfer of power.

He cautioned that his silence on political developments should not be construed as weakness and taken lightly. "I do not want to over-react and cause hurdle to the developmental activities.

Therefore, I chose to maintain peace and silent," he remarked.

He also announced that this would be his last speech in the assembly as the Deputy Chief Minister and sought cooperation from the opposition and the media for his new role as the Chief Minister after transfer of power.

Mr Yediyurappa's explanation was marred by frequent interferences by the Opposition members.
