Kalam joins EMRI as Chairman Emeritus

Chennai, July 30 (UNI) Former President A P J Abdul Kalam has joined Governing Board of Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) as Chairman Emeritus.

EMRI, a non-profit organisation has been providing comprehensive emergency response services since August 2005, supported Andhra Pradesh government's efforts to provide free emergency response service of international standards, to all citizens of the state, a company release said here today.

''I am quite delighted with this opportunity to participate in scaling up EMRI to national level in Public Private Partnership (PPP) frame work and extremely happy to associate with EMRI, which is focussing on saving lives using world class processes and technologies serving people of India in emergencies,'' the release added Dr Kalam quoted as saying.
