Bhopal, July 30 (UNI) A high-level inquiry would be held into the frequent collapse of the coal conveyor system at the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board's Satpura thermal power plant at Sarni, Energy Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya today announced in the Assembly.

The issue was raised by Mr Sukhdeo Panse through a call attention notice on the collapse of the 28-year-old conveyor structure on the night of July 7. Power generation in many units remained crippled for days together due to the collapse of the coal conveyor system and there was no proper monitoring of the repair work which was carried out at a heavy cost, he said.

Mr Vijayvargiya admitted that the three units stopped the generation of power following the collapse of conveyor structure on July 8. It was repaired again on July 19. The structure might have collapsed as it was 28-year-old and also damaged due to acid vapour emanating from the water treatment plant located closeby and due to heavy rains since July 6, he said.

Proper action would be taken against those found guilty in the high-level probe, the minister added.
