HAFED records Rs 100 cr profit

Chandigarh, July 30 (UNI) The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) has registered an all time high profit of Rs 100.98 crore during the last financial year.

Stating this, Minister of State for Cooperation Meena Mandal said that Hafed turnover was Rs 2338 crore last year and the profit was 29 per cent more than the year 2005-06.

She said for the first time, all divisions of Hafed had earned profit. Hafed would share this profits with the member of the societies.

Hafed was further expanding the scope of its activities in the interest of farmers of the state, she added.

She said that some of the key projects being undertaken by Hafed during the current financial year included setting up a Sugar Mill at Assandh, a computerised Cattle Feed Plant at Rohtak, modernisation of Rice Mill at Taraori and revival of Barley Malt Plant at Jatusana.

Ms Mandal said that Hafed was also branching off into new farmer-friendly activities of contract farming, organic farming and commodity future trading in mustard and barley so that farmers could get remunerative prices of their produce.
